Kurt's Story

I was in basic training for the Air Force 20 July 1976. I've been back to Dallas twice since then, the most recent being 1980 sometime. I was in the AF until 1990. By then I had a wife and family. We all moved to Titusville and shortly thereafter I got a job at Kennedy Space Center calibrating systems that helped maintain the shuttles. I did that for about 20 years. I'm presently on Disability-- I've got some serious neck problems. I've lived in Southern California, Okinawa, Denver Colorado, Phoenix Arizona, Washi...Expand for more
ngton DC and Brunnsum in the Netherlands.Met my wife, Betty, while in Arizona. Betty had a daughter named Chrstal when we met. Betty and I had 2 kids born at the Base Hospital at Andrews AFB. I got out just before Desert Storm began. I worked on the shuttles for 99 of their 135 flights. I watched the last one from my backyard, though. I guess you might say I've missed my war and my last chance to see the shuttle go up from as close as you can be. Oh well. You know, come to think of it, I missed my senior Prom, too.
