Kurt's Story
Life
Hi everyone!
After high school I went to the University of Missouri at Rolla for a year, where the only good thing you could say about my grade point is that if you squared it, it got larger. The following year I joined the Navy where I worked as a data systems technician until 1971. I then attended a Jr. college in Costa Mesa, California to learn film making, which I subsequently did for a living in Orange County for 17 years. I was married for seven years and now have two wonderful sons and a lovely little granddaughter. In 1991 I moved to L.A. and worked as a sound effects editor for DIC animation for a couple of years. After that I worked at a couple of major recording studios as an electronics technician. I concurrently taught various Jr. college and university level courses in film and video production, post production, and sound. I worked as a broadcast engineer at the Fox Television Network from 1996 until my retirement.
In 1999 I finally managed to fulfill a life long dream of learning to fly by getting my private pilots license. In December of 2003 I succeeded in getting ...Expand for more
my instrument rating.
In July of 2017, at the age of 70, I retired from Fox Broadcasting, and in June of 2018 I moved to Portland, Oregon..
I hope you're all doing well. I'd love to hear from you!
School
The late Mr. Hansen, my physics teacher at Glendale, was someone who could see into my future with great clarity, and inspired me to pursue the path which I'm still currently on. I'll always look back on his wisdom and support with great fondness.
College
Graduated with AA degree in film production in 1974 from Orange Coast College in Costa Mesa California.
Workplace
I'm one of those people who likes to move on when I get bored. I've been a sailor; a door-to-door encyclopedia salesman; a telephone solicitor; a pinball machine mechanic; a photojournalist; a film maker; a post-production house owner and operator, and an educator. I was a broadcast engineer for the FOX Television Network until my retirement in 2017..
Military
Served as a data systems display group technician on the guided missle cruiser USS Chicago. The ship was cut up for scrap in San Pedro California a few years ago.
