Kurt's Story
Life
After graduation, went to UCSD and graduated '87. Went into the Navy (they paid my way through college - I owed them). Left active service in '91. Entered the Navy Reserve serving in Naval Special Warfare teams (NSW - SEAL Teams/Special Boat Teams). Retired in January 2008 as a commander. In civilian life I became a toxicologist in '91 for an environmental science firm and then went to grad school and got a Ph.D. from UC Berkeley in Molecular Bio/Cell Bio/Bioch...Expand for more
em. Medical research was not where I wanted to go with my career so I took the patent bar. Worked in several biotech companies in the field of intellectual property law for 6 years until finishing my J.D. at the University of San Francisco in '06. Currently working for a law firm in Silicon Valley practicing in the areas of technology transactions and patent law for biotech clients. I am married with two boys, one who is 6 years and another who is just about 3 years.
