Kurt's Story
It's hard to believe that the years have flown by, and that we of the class of 1972 are now in our late '60s: for me there was never a dull moment in all that time.
Along the way, I managed to earn a degree in Electrical Engineering from UC Davis, wed my longtime love Mary, and do a bunch of really interesting work for the likes of Motorola and Aerojet Rocketdyne, plus 10 years as a full time engineering consultant. I've also taught several engineering courses at CSUS.
Mary and I did not have any children, and I lost her to ALS in 2016 - I will treasure the time we spent together forever, though.
As of late 2018 I am pretty much fully retired, although I...Expand for more
still do a bit of consulting. I'm finding that not being on someone else's time clock for the first time in my life is pretty magical: I now understand why folks who retire sooner live longer.
In the late '90s we moved to Wilton, which is out in the country southeast of Sacramento, and with any luck I'll be here for quite a few years to come.
My interests continue to be electronics, metal and wood working, music, ham radio, classic cars, and the occasional hike in the hills - in short I'm still the same geek I always was - just older, and, I like to think a bit wiser, although if my wife was still around there might be some pushback on the wiser part.
