Lovina-Marie's Story
My father was in the US Navy for 30 years and I was born in Long Island, NY in 1956. When I was 6 months old, we were transferred to Vallejo, California where we stayed for a year before transferring to Oahu, Hawaii in 1958. I have a wonderful memory of participating in the Statehood ceremonies for Hawaii in 1959. In 1962, we were transferred back to states to Bainbridge, MD, where I attended elementary school. In 1965, I was in 4th grade and my dad was transferred to the Washington DC area so we moved to Woodbridge, VA. I lived on Alaska Rd in Marumsco Woods and attended Featherstone Elementary and then in 1966 moved to Rippon Elementary / Rippon Middle school through 8th grade. I attended Garfield High School for 9th and 10th grade, where I was a member of the Garfield High School Marching Band. While I was a sophomore, my parents begin divorce proceedings and eventually they divorced, remarried and my momâÂÂs husband was transferred to Taiwan. My life dream was to join the US Navy, so it was decided it would be best for me to stay with my father in the Uni...Expand for more
ted States. My Dad lived in Lake Ridge, and in the fall of 1972, I transferred to Woodbridge Senior High School, vecoming a member of the Woodbridge Senior High Marching Band and graduating in 1974.
I guess my claim to fame in Woodbridge, VA was being one of the few who attended all 4 high schools in Woodbridge at that time: the original GFHS on Cardinal Drive, the new GFHS on Smoketown Rd, the original WSHS on York Dr, and the current WSHS on Old Bridge Rd.
My professional career includes 4 years in the US Navy as a Computer Operator, an Accounting Technician and Civil Servant, a Subcontract Administrator at SAIC, and for the past 7 years at Ingersoll- Rand, where I am currently a Senior Buyer.
I currently reside in Indianapolis, with my husband, Mark. and have 4 children, 2 boys and 2 girls, Richard, a Nurse in the Community Hospital Network, Sgt. Nicholas S Seys, a member of the US Army and the 101st Airborne, Ashley Marie, who died from injuries resulting from an auto accident when she was 4 months old, and Courtney Lynn, who is a freshman in High School.
