Lance's Story

Life My Wife Mary Gutierrez, who is a blessing from God and the Love of my life, we met in church and celebrated our 15th year married this summer. She also is a teacher at TCC, teaching Biology, Physiology and those other ologies, meaning she is far more intelligent than I, but by teaching we have fairly compatable schedules with time to spend and enjoy together. We love to travel and attend theater and music events. She is Cuban by birth and grew up in Hollywood, California. She is one beautiful and wonderful lady! I am a lucky and blessed man to have her in my life. My Kids Allisha is married, with a three daughters and a son, Logan attends OSU and should complete his undergrad this fall, to be a teacher. He is finally out of the Army, Sean is ABD at Auburn and has moved back into Mary's old house with Jon, James Graduated USC and is back in pursuit of a Masters, and is working as an Electronics Engineer in L.A., Jonathan graduated with a masters at TU, while sharing the old house with Sean. My Job I wish I hadn't taken so long to figure out what I wanted to be when I grew Up. Now teaching Mathematics at TCC West Campus. My Travels This has been a fun couple of years. I was in New Orleans, last year the week before Katrina hit, stayed in the quarter at the Thomas Jefferson Hotel, a historic building and the place where the Lousiana Purchase was signed. Logan (my Son) and I went to Dallas for the Jimmy Buffett Concert (it w...Expand for more
as sooo awesome!) then onto Beaver Lake, Arkansas to get our Open water Scuba Diving Certificate, and we spend every weekend we can under water at Lake Tenkiller at the Cabin. Mom and I went on a European tour, with stays in London, Lisbon, Venice, Rome, Florence, Dublin, Kilarny and a Cruise through the Mediteranean Sea, with stops in Gibralter, Spain, Sicily and Italy. a great trip, but a month is almost too long. To Celebrate our anniversary and finish the summer, Mary and I took a wonderful road trip to Yellowstone, staying at Old Faithful Inn (the world's largest log cabin) where we could watch the old faithful geyser from our bedroom window. We hiked and walked through some of the most beautiful scenery in the country. We also stayed in Denver, and Jackson Hole Wyoming, went to see the sights of Yellowstone, Teton, Wind River, and Black Hills state parks, visited Mount Rushmore, Devils tower and the Crazy Horse monument, and attended the opening day of Bike week at Sturgis, one heck a GREAT vacation! THis year has also been eventful with Mary Joining us as the newest parrot head for the Jimmy Buffett concert in Frisco, Texas. I've spent a lot of time at the lake house this summer, and we will finish the summer off on a cruise through the Caribbean, with ports-of-call in Jamaica, Grand Cayman, and Cozumel, Mexico. Teaching at west campus is great, I get to teach some of the children of old friends, and even an old friend or two.
