Pam's Story
Life
Well it has now been 26 years since I moved to Elko from Vegas. November 19th will be my 3 year anniversary at CADV (Committee Against Domestic Violence). I love my job as much now as when I first started. I spend a lot of time in the justice system with my clients and peer counseling so it keeps me very busy. If anyone out there is a family law attorney and would like to do some pro-bono work PLEASE contact me! Our ladies can not afford attorney's here for divorce and custody cases. I am the legal advocate (I'm not an attorney) so I accompany our clients to all prelims, TPO Extension Hearings, and dv trials against their abusers. I also facilitate our weekly women's support group. Golf season is finished here so I'm bowling on Friday nights. It's important to have a release from work to avoid burnout (I reallly don't see that happening). I hope we have another reunion soon everybody did a great job arranging it especially Ross. It was great seeing eeryone again. I did not make it to the 50th birthday party (if there was one). I was at a Leathality Summitt in Vegas. Did not make a baseball game this year but Chicago is on the agenda next year GO CUBBIES!! I am trying to convince my exec. dir. I need to go to Chicago for a Sexual Assault Seminar in April. one or suspect they are being abused encourage them to seek help. Afriend of mine in Oregon was murdered in August by her fiance. I had not been in touch with her for years but when I read the article in the local paper there all her frineds stated they notilced the change in her but did not know what to do. It is a tough thing to do but you may be saving that person's life. Nevada has the sad statistic of being #1 in domestic violence murders in the country. Sadly for an update; my Mom passed away on 1/11/11 due to complications from 2 separate cancer surgeries she had on the 7th. Today is my 51st (3/23/11)birthday been up and down but I have awsome freinds who are helping me get through this. 6/30/12 Dad and I went to Kona Hawaii last month had an awsome time. Much needed vacation due to how busy we are at work. There is only myself, JoLynn, and our director Yvette so it's been pretty crazy me on vacation then Yvette went JoLynn goes in 2 weeks. 4/10/13 Have just a minute to check in. I was saying last year how it was just JoLynn, Yvette, and I well it is now just Yvette and I. It has been for 3 months now. Not certain when we will be able to hire someone (ah the life of a non-profit lol). Dad and I are going to a few games at AT&T in San Francisco in August. We were going to go to Alaska however; due to some medical issues for both of us it is going to have to wait until next year. Hi to everyone and hopefully there will be another reunion.
