Lara's Story
Life
I attended California Lutheran University and graduated with a B.S. in Psychology in 89 and then returned to Cal Lu to complete a Masters in Marriage and Family Therapy in 95. I worked at the University's counseling center for three years and was married during that time in 1996(to the man I brought to the 10th reunion!) I have four children, 2 step and 2 with my husband: Andrea (24), Nick (19), Dylan (10) born in 1998 and Aubrie (9) who followed closely behind her brother in 1999. I passed my licensing exams in 2000 and became a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist. I have always lived in Newbury Park and am enjoying raising my family in this wonderful community. School
As crazy as Mr. Crouch was, he in fact, was the man who steered me into the mind and the psyche and away from nursing which was my first career choice. Other influences were Mr. Mutolo with his message being, "Never give up"! which I wanted to, desperately, when it came to algebra!! In my senior year there was a fabulous creative writing teacher who really opened up the world of the written word as a tool for expression - I think his name was Mr. Scarpino? As I look back I recall Newbury Park High School as being an incredibly supportive enviornment even tho at the time it felt like prison at certain points! I don't think I would go back to high school if you paid me, but the memories are wonderful to have. A difficult time but what a time it was!
