Larry's Story

After AGHS graduation in '77, worked in construction in the Central Coast for two years. Went in the Air Force in 1979, spent three years in Cocoa Beach Florida and then separated in 1983. Moved back to the Central Coast. Had a couple odd jobs at Diablo Canyon and in SLO. Started work at Vandenberg in 1983 on GPS (when it was still being developed) as a controller and payload engineer. Moved with GPS to Colorado Springs when GPS went operational in 1986. In 1987, moved to Santa Maria and worked again at Vandenberg. Have stayed involved in Aerospace since. l 2018 when I retired from GD. Worked two more years for Lockheed Martin as a Spacecraft Engineer then retired for good to Southwest Colorado. Don't play drums anymore but picked up Guitar and play Bass Guitar too. Got married in 1986 and have two kids, a daughter and a son. Both kids graduated with bachelor's degrees from NMSU. Daughter is in the Air Force working in aerospace medicine. Son graduated with a master's in microbiology from Colorado State in Fort Collins and works for the state of Massachusetts in vector borne lab. Don't get back to the Central Coast often enough, miss it terribly. Daydream of riding my bike from Pismo up to SLO on 227 and back down South Higuera then back to the Five Cities...
