Man, I'm not even going to try to summarize my whole life here, so let's just hit the high points and move along, shall we? I'm currently living about 100 miles south of St. Louis on the Mississippi River in Cape Girardeau Missouri, and work as the Chief Air Traffic Controller at our regional airport. I've been counting down to retirement since I'm actually at a pretty ripe old age for this career, but have to sort a few things out first. After all, I may have room in my life for one last great adventure before I go out to pasture. I'm thinking of a move to a warmer clime, or possibly the middle-east where they love to pay insane money so they don't have to suffer the drudgery of daily jobs like mine. I guess time will tell. I've been motorcycling for some time, and decided to spoil myself with a brand-new one last spring. I never did get too comfortable with the whole doo-rag and leather vest thing (but I did get the tattoo), so I went with a BMW this time around. It's also a little tip-of-the-hat to my mother who was German. No offense to you Harley guys. To each his own. I made a nice long solo bike trip last summer from home, up through Illinois, Indiana and Michigan, then into Canada around Lake Erie and Lake Ontario, and then crossed back into New York from the Canada side(three ferry rides that day). I ate only in diners, stayed in flea-bag motels, camped out for a few nights under the stars in Ontario, overnighted in an historic lighthouse where the St. Lawrence Seaway meets Lake Ontario in upstate New York, and then splurged on a penthouse suite in Erie PA overlooking Lake Erie since by then I needed a good meal, a decent bar to drink in (Crown and water please!), and especially a soft matt...Expand for more
