Larry's Story
I attended WVU from 1969-1972. BA in business
I met Patsy Kelly In English 101. We got married days before starting our senior year of college. We both graduated and moved to Bluefield. I worked for the family food brokerage business and Patsy worked at First National Bank.
We have a son Lance and a daughter Kelly. They are both married and we have 6 awesome grandchildren. We will celebrate our 50th wedding anniversary on August 19, 2022
At the age of 24 we bought the IGA in Bluefield, Va. 3 years later we bought the IGA in Bluewell. In the next 3 years we opened 4 convenience stores.

ized in company picnics. In the 3rd year I wanted to have a soft serve machine and frozen lemonade machine at our events. The next thing I knew, I was selling ice cream machines. That was the beginning of Douglas Equipment. We currently occupy 4 buildings on North Street in Bluefield WVa. totaling 50,000 sq feet. This is our national headquarters. We have a showroom there, e-commerce division, business offices, government bid offices, and 3 warehouses. We sell restaurant and food store equipment in all 50 states as well as around the world. We have have salespeople from Detroit to Myrtle Beach. With the work of our amazing team and Gods help, Douglas Equipment is nationally recognized as a powerful force in our industry, currently ranked 32 out of about 3,000 dealers in America.
