Larry's Story
Life
High School life was a great but ended up in disappointment. I should have graduated with the class of '76, but chose to be a radical. I joined the US Air Force in Sep '76. That's when I became focused on what I wanted in life. I excelled in every area. I met the love of my life and married her in 1979. We have 2 children, Melissa and LJ. Both are married now and Melissa has blessed us with two grandchildren (Branson and Ashley). I'm proud to say that both of my kids are college honor graduates. My son is now pursuing his master's. I retired from the US Air Force in Feb 2000 at the highest enlisted rank (Chief Master Sergeant/E-9). During those 23 years I earned high school diplomas from Tecumseh and the State of Minnesota as well as my college degree in Financial Management. I also earned numerous decorations and awards from the Air Force. My family and I enjoyed Air Force assignments in several parts of the world, including many areas in the US, Guam, England, and Germany. Europe is the place to be. We spent 5 years there!
After retirement I worked at NCR in Dayton for 3 yea...Expand for more
rs then became contracted employee at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, Ohio. I am now completely retired!
School
I began my education in a two-room school house in Park Layne. That took care of grades 1 and 2. The 3rd and 4th grades were spent at Park Layne Elementary School....remember the movies and popcorn on Saturday's. I also spent time with Peggy Karjala sitting behind her and pulling her hair in class. We remained good friends until her death in Oct 1974, and I still think of her often. Anyway, you can tell how often my parents moved around within a 10-mile radius, because my 5th and 6th grades were at Medway Elementary. Then 7th and 8th grades were at Olive Branch Junior High School. Another move and 9th grade was at New Carlisle Junior High School. That's when I got into track and the Honor Society. Now 10th and 11th grades were back at Tecumseh High School. 12th grade was a wash, I was 18, bored, and hung with the wrong group. Thus I quit. That's probably the best thing that could have happened for me. I joined the Air Force soon after and the rest is a successful story.
