Larry's Story
I moved to Ottawa IL after graduation to live with my grandfather. I was drafted in 1969 in the Army and while in there I married my wife Marcy. We have now been married 46 years we have two children Philip (Jenny) and Marla . We have two grandchildren Marleigh who is 13 and Raegan who is 3 years old. I started my working career with Western Electric as a installer in 1967 - 1974 with a service time break and got layed off in 1974. I then started working construction as a Laborer and continued there till 1986. I started working at Marseilles Lock and Dam for the US Army Corp of Engineers in 1986 to 1-3-2014. Haven't had my first day of retirement yet but anticpating. I worked my way from a Lockman to my present position as the Lockmaster. My hobbies are Golf and watching my Grandaughter doing all of her activities...Expand for more
such as band, softball, volleyball and horseback riding. She also like to golf but I think she just likes to drive my cart.
I was in QuiNhon Vietnam 69 -70 the 67th Evac Hospital as a medic worked mainly in the orthpedic ward. Biil Gilbertson and John Johnston were my room mates I was told Bill died in a motorcycle accident a few years after he got home he was from Madison Ws. Diane Dwan was the head nurse on our ward until she went to the ER. I can't remember my other room mate but I know he was from Patterson NJ. I think his last name was Peterson. The thing I remember most about the place was the choppers coming in all the time and helping out bringing the guys in for triage. Going to the Leper village to help the Drs with treatment going swimming at thier beach, also working with the kids we treated on the ward.
