Larry's Story
Life
The last reunion I attended was 20 years ago. After escaping Bakersfield in 1968, the only thing that would ordinarly get me back down there is the yearly reunion with my family. Most of my siblings still live there or returned, I moved away in the mid 80s, but then I get ahead of myself.
By the mid 70s I had completed my AA at Bakersfield College, 4 years in the Air Force and had received my ba in Psychology from San Jose State. I got married and lived on my Grandfather's farm near Pumpkin Center for a couple of years and did substitute teaching all over Kern County, while trying to decide what I wanted to do as a career.
By the end of the 70s I had landed a job with Pacific Bell, working in a central office down town Bakersfield. This turned out to be my career, since I have worked for one or the other of these phone companies ever since. My son, Phill was born within days of m...Expand for more
y mother's passing on. Souls passing in the night and both of my favorite people.
My marriage only lasted about 8 years and that was a set back, but most of my life has been blessed. Growing up in Bakersfield, my universe was very small and my awareness limited. My move to Sacramento in the mid 80s represented a great transformation for me. Life has guided me by the hand through many special places, relationships and ever expanding spiritual and personal unfoldment. Still ahead of me are further expansions of awareness and more transitions.
Retirement is begining to loom large and the possibilities that this faze of life will bring still hasn't fully dawned on my awareness. Education, travel, just more time to pursue reading, writing, wood working, gardening, volunteer work, political activism.....possibilities. Posibilities the 40 hour work week would not allow become viable. Life is good.
