Laura's Story
Hello, welcome to my page, just a small update. Been superbusy with life. Lots of changes happened this year, some good, some not so good. In Jan of 2008, Steve's dad was diagnosed with terminal lung cancer and we spent the next 13 months making the best we could. We were very lucky in that we got to spend one last holiday season with him. He even spent New Years with us in Vegas. Larry was the first grandparent that my kids have lost. We could have done without the family drama that ensued at his wake but such is life, verdad? LOL
Since then, my two oldest have finally moved on. On July 20th (yes, I counted) my son, Andrew, moved out to some apartments in La Mirada and my oldest daughter, Megan has transferred to CSUN, Cal State Northridge for her Jr year. She has declared child development as her major. I tell her that its fitting since she is about a child's size. LOL - I know - mean momma. Well, don't say I haven't warned any of you of my dry humor.
Now, we are down to our youngest - the so-called "Golden Child." Although I originally named her that because of the color of her skin not because she truly is golden. LOL - Joke people, Joke. Anyway, April is well on her way to leaving the...Expand for more
nest. She claims she will be leaving the state for college - it remains to be seen as to whether this girl can hack college life. She's lead a rather priviliged life and will be facing a rather rude awakening I'm afraid. This should be fun to watch. LOL - stay tuned for more updates.
Meanwhile, Steve and I are plodding along. We hang out with friends, hang at home in my big old empty house for 1/2 the time although I get to see my son more now since he moved out then when he lived here.
Laura is still traveling and recently returned from her childhood dream of visiting Machu Picchu in Peru. I fell in love with the people and would love to return. Oh yes, we tried Alpaca and considered Cuy (guinea pig) but just couldn't do it. I'm a sucker for pets.
My diva dogs are doing well and are currently resting in the living room where it is nice and cool. I'm still trying to upload my Peru pictures just to prove to my son that I actually climbed Machu Picchu and survived it almost intact. (He doesn't need to know about the oxygen treatment I had!) LOL
I'll upload more pictures as soon as I transfer them. In the meantime, have fun and drop me a line will ya? Take care and God Bless! XOXO Laura
