Laura's Story

Life After graduation, I went to NAU for one year on a volleyball scholarship. Loved volleyball, but hated the coach so I didn't go back. Worked at Safeway off/on till the summer of 1977 when I went to work for APS at Cholla Power plant as a secretary (Thank you Mrs. Meikle & Mrs. Stotts). Transferred to Phoenix in 1978. Met my husband there and was married in 1980. I've had 3 children - two girls and a boy - now all grown and off doing their own things. Went to GCC and ASU during 1980 thru 1992. Got an AA in applied science (electrical engineering technology) and an AA in Arts (transfer program eletrical engineering). Never finished my bachelors though. Divorced in 1996. I started working as a technician for Honeywell in 1988 - so I'm coming up on my 20 year award soon. Time flies. I like camping and hiking, but haven't gotten to do as much as...Expand for more
I liked. Was playing volleyball - co-ed sand from around 1997 up until 2004 when I broke my foot. (reason for not attending the 30 yr. reunion). Then I figured I'd better slow down some - takes longer to heal as you get older! Planning a big trip to Europe with my middle daughter in 2008 - my first time overseas - Spain, Italy, Switzerland and Germany. So if anybody has been there and knows of something I "just have to see" - let me know before May of next year! I keep busy now with work and my yard and friends from work - dart league - not so strenuous. Oh in case you don't know, there is a website just for Winslow Alumni too. Can't list the address because this site won't let me, but you can google it. Workplace 1975 to 1977 (off and on) Safeway 1977 to 1982 - Arizona Public Service (office/secretarial) 1988 to present - Honeywell, Inc.
