Laura's Story
Catch 'em up on what you've done and who you are.
I went thru and answered most of the "profile" questions -but afterwards felt that they made me sound like a Walmart generic brand-so....thought I'd add a little more.
First, the greatest love in my life is Jesus Christ. Though I accepted Him as my Savior back in my 20's-It was later in my 30's that I finally allowed Him to be the Lord of my Life. And, "no" I have never and will never regret that decision. I didn't care for the question on the profile that asked if I "hoped" or if I "prayed". Anyone who really knows Jesus-knows that when you "pray" that you then have "hope". Because Jesus is "Hope". I am an eternal optimist because I know who holds eternity. Yes, I'm the irritating cheerful morning person that comes in saying "Good morning" to everyone in my office as most murmur out "hello".
I married a wonderful man -Stan Smith who was in Kempsvile '79 class -but we never met until we were 27 & 28 years old. I tell people that God gave me a son thru my husband and a daughter thru Compassion International. My son is (what else?) Stan Jr and will be graduating next year and then going to ODU for engineering. My "daughter" is Anna and lives in India. She is 13 years old.
I could say that my life has been a "bed of roses". There has been beauty, sweet f...Expand for more
ragrances and thorns and sometimes weeds.....but I as long as I keep my eyes on the Gardner (Jesus)-I can make it through whatever thing that comes in the garden. Well, as you may have noticed-one of the greatest blessings in my life-is Writing. The Lord has blessed me with that ability. I can honestly say that when I finish writing something (devotional or other) -that even if I don't have a penny in my pocket -I feel like one of the richest women on earth. God has blessed me with 2 devotionals that were published on CBN.com in the devotional section. One day-my goal is to have books published. (and I know I will!).
One of my other greatest enjoyments is cooking. In fact, my nickname at work is "Betty Crocker Jr". (lol)
Thinking about combining those 2 interests together and writing a "Devotional Cookbook". I also love music-always have. Couldn't choose a favorite on the list -because mine is Contemporary Christian music (go figure) and of course that wasn't one of the choices.
My life change -came in part, due to experiencing the death of one of my "classmates" from Kempsville High. I will probably share that story one day. Well
for some I may have share too much and maybe for others not enough-but hope that makes me more of a "Specialty brand"- rather than "generic".
Smiles & Love in Jesus to you all!
