Laura's Story
I am a single mom of an awesome 12 year old boy. He is in a local Boy Scout troop in town. He just advanced to the 1st Class rank!!
I moved back and live in Pearland and help out my parents when possible. My parents are both retired and somewhat disabled due to arthritis, etc.
I went to UHCL in 1997 and got my teaching degree and certification in 2001. However, did not like how teaching is done in Texas--it's all about the TAKS test!
So, I work at the library as the Children's Specialist in the meantime. I want to go back and get my MLS (library ...Expand for more
degree) sometime within the next 4 years... hopefully from UNT, which has a great online degree program. I hope to work after graduating, for either the PISD or FISD school districts, or the Harris County Library System (HCPL) to make more money for my son and parents.
We surived Hurricane Ike storm damage alright. We still are awaiting repairs. FEMA only gave us enough money for 1/2 a roof! Oh well, that's what you get for living close to the coast.
I love to read, garden, watch some tv, work with children, help people at work, and visit with my pets.
