Laura's Story
Hi Everybody! After I left Oceana, I finished at Lincoln in S.F. where I lived for a year and met my husband-to-be (then boyfriend, Art Mavromatis) but that went on hold...I moved back home, ran into Joni and she wanted to go to Virginia (where her brother lived)...so with nine dollars and her mother's Arco credit card we took off in her VW and drove to Virginia! That was a fun trip and people were so nice to us! I came home, married Art and I had three children: Christian (the dreamchild of existence)...he has a beautiful personality, tons of friends, everyone loves him, he can do everything and well, i.e., skateboarder (he had sponsors)...surfer, lead guitarist for years in his "Rhoades to Oz" band, his art in ceramics, he went into real estate, mortgages and now he is a Pharmacist. Then I had twins: Natalie and James. They were quite the opposite of Chris; except they were musically inclined... Natalie played drums and Jimmy played the sax. They were alot of work! lls her paintings, works for G.E. and we go out and talk on the phone all the time and James is very religious but at 16 he became ill with schizophrenia...Well, we all have our joys and sorrows...we must accept and move forward...My husband died when the kids were 13...I went to school to be a programmer so I got my A.A.S. in Computer Sciences and worked for IBM and Intel. I volunteer for a women's shelter...babysitting the kids while the parent is in counsel, I do supervised visitations while one parent has to be watched, by me, while visiting with their child and I counsel mothers that are in abusive relationships. If we help others, we might make the world a better place to live. My father died three years ago, so I take care of my mother (since they gave me a nice life as a kid, it is the least I can do!) in Roseville, CA..I sew beautiful clothes for clients and now I am painting again and starting a web site...and I go to Las Vegas as much as possible...I love that town! Party!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
