Laura's Story
Life
My social life took a complete 360 once I graduated from high school. My social life sucked but I did have some awesome teachers at Butler High. In high school, I was the shy quiet, wallflower girl whom nobody wanted to eat lunch with or hang out with. Let me just say that nobody wanted to get to know me because they all had their own set groups of friends. But once I graduated on June 8, 1995, my life changed. I started working and in the fall, I attended Butler County Community College where I was involved. Then I transferred to Slippery Rock University where I completed my Bachelor's degree. Once I got away from the cliques of my class, I found out that not all people are like that and I started dating and made some great friends. In September 1996, I met my future husband Jeff(Moniteau, '94) at work. We were married on September 8, 2001(I was on my honeymoon when we were attacked). Note, I was a "Bridezilla."(I'm not the quiet girl anymore you remember me as. I've become a b***h at times)
My husband and I(after a long, difficult labor) brought a beautiful baby boy into the world on July 17, 2006. We wanted to be surprised on what we were having, as long as baby was healthy. I am working on weekends so I can be with my son during the week.

would see a girl who keeps up with her appearance, dresses nice, is outgoing and confident, caring, and is somebody who loves her son dearly. My son is everything to me.
Bottom line is that I'm a terrific example that wallflowers or nobody's in high school can have a great life after graduation.
School
No, I wouldn't do again. Now if somebody paid me a million dollars, I think it would be worth it to go through being teased and excluded from the cliques. I had so many excellent teachers who supported me through my high school years. Some of those teachers are Mrs. West, Mr. Altmire, Mrs. Slezak, and Mr. & Mrs. Brown to name a few. During that horrible winter of '94, my bus got stuck and I missed to first 2 periods of the day so I lucked out big time. The greatest moment is turning my tassel at commencement.
College
I started at Butler County Community College in August of '95. There I belonged to the Student Senate and I was an Orientation Leader. Mt. Dew got me through papers, projects, and exams. When I look back on my college days, it wasn't one big party. I was taking 15 credits a semester and working 25 hours a week. On top of that, I belong to extracurriculars. I feel college was a great investment and it will help me attain my long term goal of planning to attend law school one day.
