Laura's Story
After High school my life went as follows:
Post-Secondary Education includes: B.ED. ECE, then working with the elderly courses included: PCA, nursing, and Medical Office Assistant.
Started a daycare, Got married and had 3 children (girl, boy, girl) Got sick with a brain haemorrhage at which time my husband left us. As a single parent I adopted my nieces¿ daughter bringing her home from the hospital at 5 days old. I had a successful Daycare with 80 children and 20 staff, I've driven highway tractor, been a Roofer, a Personnel care attendant, unit clerk, nurse, and office controller.
I broke my back in 2004 which left me in a wheelchair for a time, which left me disabled. Tired of the crazy drivers and the ¿rat race¿ in Calgary, in 2006 I sold my home and I was placed in Olds, AB. I started to attend Word of Life Church was baptised and became filled with the Holy Spirit. Surrounded by many Christian friends and family, I started a new life.
The Lord has healed me to where I was able to go on a mission trip to Rwanda, Africa in Nov/09. Travelling with my Pastor and other members of Mountain View Word of Life Church, we spent 17 days doin...Expand for more
g children¿s ministry, healthcare, and spreading the gospel. The picture shows me holding a three week old baby we found in the slum area of Gatsata (located just outside of the capital city of Kigali). We attended a 2 day crusade at Giterama where a church was planted; many people gave their life to Christ and at least 2 people were completely healed-Praise the Lord. We found a happy, loving generation of people hungry for the GOOD WORD. They just want to know more about God and the promises He has for all of us.
Well that¿s me. I love people, I'm known as 'The Hug Lady' I love my Savior, I can hardly wait to return to Rwanda and hug more of my sisters and brothers there.
Over the last 4 yrs. I¿ve come to truly believe that ¿Jesus LOVES me¿ and He LOVES YOU TOO. I pray blessing over each person who reads this. Let it encourage all who read it, in Jesus name, amen.
A little history about Rwanda:
In 1994 Estimates of the death toll have ranged between 500,000 and 1,000,000 massacred within about one hundred days. This left around 100,000 children in Rwanda living without parents or adult guardians, or 30,000 child-headed households.
