Laura's Story
Life
We are living in Wheaton, IL. We built a house in '04. I've been married for 11 yrs. We have two kids. Madison is 6 going into 1st grade this year, she loves swimming, soccer, ice skating and bugs. Austin is 3 and going to Preschool, and now likes swimming, loves cars and anything boy related. I quit my job, of 8 yrs, last year with Kraft Foods, Inc to stay at home with the kiddies. Enjoying it for the most part. We just got a hampster, "scamper", who did manage to escape from the cage-found alive! The kids are working me for a dog,but not ready for that mess. Just got my last one potty trained, why start over?! I succommed to a new Mini van this spring-I am officially a soccer mom-yikes! I love being outside, at the pool, with the kids. I like to experiment with gardening and cooking. Love to shop!(big surprise, I know) I love being a Mom and am enjoying in amazement how fast our kids are growing. We spend most of our time doing things for the kids, and loving it. A little vicarious living keeps you young.
College
After High School, I atteneded the International Academy of Merchadise and Design. I commuted to the city 2-3 days a week attended full schedule in three days, and worked three jobs to earm money to pay for school on the other days. I did earm my BA in Business in 1992. Workplace
Started out like a lot, working in resturants/golf clubs to earn money. Of course I worked retail too. I also worked dressing windows for a store for displays, throughout college. After college I went to work for an Accessory store in malls for four years working up to manager of two stores(or in other words, working two jobs while getting paid for only one). They announced their closing one day before my wedding! I left the retail level world and went to the retail corp world. Working for Montgomery Wards as a buyer. For two LONG years worked for them, survived two major layoffs/restructure and dedcided to jump ship before another one hit. Which is good, b/c as soon as I left they announced their demise. I went to work for Kraft Foods, INC and was an customer account manager for them, taking care of customers orders, billing, shipping and business efficiencies(ie an customer was Dominicks/Jewel). I did that job for 8 yrs, until I quit last May to stay at home. Now I do the job of 5 and don't get paid anything. Funny how life works! ha ha! Really though I love it and am so blessed to be able to do it.
Military
I never served, but am grateful to all the men and women serving us today, and those who served in the past. Thank God, they do what they do for everyone of us!
