Laura's Story

Life I left San Diego in 1983 to attend UC Irvine. Received a B.A. in Social Ecology from UCI in 1985. During that time I worked part-time for the City of Irvine for Community Services (Park & Rec.). Shortly after graduation I left Community Services to work for the city's Animal Services Department as their Humane Education & Volunteer Coordinator. Loved this job, and stayed with it for several years. In 1989 I decided to pursue an M.P.A. degree in Public Administration, and enrolled at Cal State Long Beach. Shortly upon graduation, my younger sister was in a very serious skiing accident and I opted to quit the program to help take care of her. w Enforcement, accepting a supervisory postition with IPD's Preventive Services Bureau. I loved the excitement of working for law enforcement, and within a few years promoted to Bureau Superintendent. Between then, my husband Brian and I had our first son, Garrett (1999). In 2001, we were pregnant with our second son, Gavin, and decided to move from Mission Viejo to Temecula so I could retire from my job and raise our children. Garrett is now 8 and Gavin is 5. My husband works as a the Western Regional Director for Olympus, America's endoscopy division. Our home base now is Temecula and we love it here. Our family enjoys both types of skiing, hiking, dirtbikes, boating, fishing, camping and traveling in our motorhome.
