Laura's Story
Life
I have been married to Jeff since 1988. We have 1 boy (Sam, 12 years old) and 1 girl (Bekah, 9 years old). Both of our children are athletic and love to play soccer and basketball. Jeff and I have both learned how to be coaches for these sports and love it.
School
My favorite teacher was Mrs. Holtzclaw. She was wonderful for teaching French as well as giving good advice for living. I was so sad when she passed away a few years ago. I also loved our Math teachers, Mr. Mizelle and Mr. Shaver. They...Expand for more

Workplace
After graduating from college, I taught 3rd grade for 10 years and 5th grade for 2 years. Then, I became the school library media coordinator at an elementary school in Ashe County. I was involved in helping to implement a 1.3 million dollar media and technology integration grant from 2003-2006. I was named the North Carolina School Library Media Coordinator of the year in 2006 by my professional association. I am fortunate enough to teach at the school my children attend.
