Laura's Story

I am married with 2 grown children and 3 grandchildren. My husband and I are retired, he retired from the City of Petaluma as a Police Officer. We now live near Redding, CA on a bit of acreage. We have horses, goats, a donkey, chickens, pigs, dogs and cats. Loving the life for sure!! The photo you see was taken in a Helicopter during one of our many missions. We were k9 handlers for many years in Search and Rescue. We have traveled all over the world and have been in the Middle East numerous times, Austrailia and many places in between. We traveled to Hawaii every 6 weeks to train Search and Rescue Dogs and in fact started the first k9 SAR team for the State of Hawaii. We have now retired from those adventures and are happy to keep our feet on the ground and stay close to home. We now run a dog rescue called "Pets Without Partners" "Like us" on Facebook. dogs from kill shelters and find them new homes. Last year we saved and rehomed 674 dogs and 30 cats. We spend what free time we have traveling to San Diego to visit our daughter and her family. She is married and has two boys, and one little girl. We visit them every 3 months and stay for a week at a time. My son is living in the Dominican Republic and he was just here for a week long visit. We loved having him home again, even if it was just for a short week. My parents live in Petaluma and we visit them every couple of months. My sister Lynda is living in Santa Rosa. Sadly, we lost my big sister, Lesli, about 10 years ago to cancer. I think of her daily and am glad that we got so close as we got older. She was a special lady and I miss her so much.
