Laura's Story

Busy times since graduating from SBHS in 1975 - off to Baylor University for 4 years, where in addition to getting a degree in Home Economics/Education, I also met, and after graduation, married Doug Yarbrough. His job with ExxonMobil has taken us all over the world.....in addition to living in Houston 4 times, Denver, LA, Kingwood twice, Corpus Christi, and Dallas, we've lived overseas in Melbourne, Australia, and Singapore. We have one son, Corey, who is an SMU graduate (2006), living and working in real estate development in Dallas. While in college, he was an advertising major, a Kappa Sig, and he studied abroad at Oxford University in England. Our entire family lives in the Houston area, with both sets...Expand for more
of parents living in Katy, TX. After years of moving around, we hope to remain in Houston for quite a while. We built a new home in Memorial and moved in September 2005. We are now working on plans for our "retirement" home in Colorado. I'm a real "dog" person - the bigger and hairier the better. I've had 2 collies and now have a huge Golden named Tucker. While in Australia, I raised a Guide Dog Puppy (a yellow lab) for the Royal Guide Dog Association of Victoria, and she ("Fia")is now an active guide dog for a visually impaired woman in Perth, Australia. Hobbies include building and decorating homes (we're on #s 10 and 11), travel, skiing, dogs, plants and gardening, movies, and volunteer work.
