Laura's Story

I have no idea where Classmates.com got the blurb previously listed as "my story", but here's what really happened! I attended the University of Illinois in Urbana for a year following graduation and then got married, which definitely lengthened the time it took me to finish college. We moved to the D.C. area in 1967 where both of us worked and continued our educations. I finally finished my bachelor's in 1972 and then completed my master's in 1986 at Johns Hopkins. I got divorced after 16 years of marriage and have been in my present relationship for the past 14 years. I spent 21 years as an administrator in our local public school district (adult education and middle sch...Expand for more
ool alternative students) and then 12 years as an executive director of a non-profit mentoring program. My career was always very important to me, but retirement is the absolute BEST job I've ever had! I've lived in Delaware for the past 32 years and consider myself a transplanted Delawarean. I am very involved with my church community. I sing in the choir and even met my partner Bob there! I often think how my high school choir experience turned out to be a lifelong pleasure. My only son died in a drowning accident in 1989, but I do get to share Bob's grandson who is a Corporal in the Marines. We round out our "family" with four cats and loving friends and neighbors.
