Laura's Story
Life
Hi everyone! After graduating from Walled Lake Central, I went to Western Michigan University. I graduated with a degree in education in 1998 and got a job teaching at Loon Lake Elementary School in the Fall of 1998. I was awarded teacher of the year in 2001 and finished up my master's in education in April of 2003. I am currently teaching 3rd graders- though have also taught first and second graders.
I was married in April of 2001 and I lived in Commerce with my wonderful husband, Jeff and our two Humane Society Special dogs, Pele' and Cobi!
I gave birth to two little boys (I shouldn't call them little as they were over-due and for twins quite big) on September 15, 2003. Drew was stillborn due to a cord injury and Jonasen (Jonah-...Expand for more
sen) while also wrapped in cord was/is super healthy. I have done a lot of work with my hospital and am very involved in the support group there. The Detroit Free Press featured us on Nov. 1st 2005 about Andrew's death- and I also spoke at a conference on the topic.
In December of 2004, I gave birth to my beautiful daughter, Alicia Jane. Ali Jane is a joy (as is her big brother Joey) and I'm loving being a mom! I have learned a lot from my children and truly understand how lucky I am, even though I continue to miss my son, Drew very much. My faith has really helped me through all of this.
We recently moved to White Lake (still Walled Lake Schools) and I am expecting to deliver "Baby D" on April 16th 2007.
