Laura's Story
Life
I graduated from Carleton College in Northfield MN with a degree in Urban Studies in 1975, started graduate school in sociology at Syracuse U. and finished at Washington University (St. Louis) in 1988. By then, I was married to Jeff Rixleben, a computer guru from Oklahoma City, and working for the Division of Evaluation and Research of the St. Louis Public Schools. for a couple years. Following a reorganization, we moved back to the Chicago area and I began working for Arthur Andersen at its professional development center in St. Charles. I did a bit of evaluation and a lot of survey research while there, mostly in the area of customer satisfaction. Five reorganizations later, Andersen and I came to a parting of the ways. I now work in Oak Brook for Wirthlin Worldwide, a market research and strategic consulting company based outside of Washington DC.
