Laura's Story

So... I'm getting related to the fact that it's been 25 years since we graduated. And when I sit down to write up my story, it's hard to know where to start. Mostly because I'm less interested in talking about my story than I am finding out what everyone else has been up to. I didn't have a clue what I wanted to be when I grew up, even after graduating from FB Prison. So I kicked around and goofed off for a couple of years, then joined the workforce of the good ol' City of Los Angeles. I happened to have a knack for computers, so ended up being the resident guru wherever I was, training people to use the computer and insisting that we keep building bigger and better applications to get work done. urse, I never told anyone the reason I wanted things computerized because it was a LOT less work for me, because after all -- it's all about me, doncha know. I eventually got my B.S. in Computer Information Systems from Azusa Pacific University in 2000, then went to work for Oracle. Where I found out that the for-profit consulting world was not for me. I realized that unless I was on a mission, I wasn't happy. So I am now the Executive Director of a non-profit organization that is focused on transforming healthcare through health information technology.
