Laura's Story
Look me up on FB. I would love to hear from anyone and everyone!
My life has not always been easy or fun. I was a single mom for the better part of 12 years after divorcing Sebastian Elliott (Dobson Alum 1984). I struggled with low self-esteem, anorexia, bulimia, obsessive disorder, and depression. I worked my bottom off, often working three jobs at once to make ends meet. My girls and I were money poor, but we were rich with love and affection. The Lord always provided, whether it be job opportunities, unexpected income or just the hope of something better to come. The Lord never gives us more than we can handle, although I didn't think so at the time. If I had it all to do again, I wouldn't change a thing, including the stuff I'm not proud of. My past experiences make me who I am today. I can conquer anything, and I am capable of all things with the Lord's help. I have two amazing daughters, Samantha 35 married and living on an Airforce base in Tucson, and Melanie 33. Both girls have been blessed to be stay-at-home moms, although Sam is perusing her degree in Psychology currently. Melanie is everything I wasn't in high school. She's confident, outgoing, fashionable, and excels academically. I have worked for my school district for 23 years and love, love, love what I do. It is also where I met my husband. In 2004 I married the man of my dreams, Dean Pederson, who is 18 years older than me. We were married in Sunny Cove, Ala...Expand for more
ska during a Salmon and Halibut fishing trip. I gained two sons that add joy to my life. John is 52. Andy is 42. Between the four kids, they have given us 11 grandchildren that are my everything. My husband Dean and I live in wonderful Pine, AZ where we hunt, fish, photograph wildlife, kayak, hike, and enjoy life. I took my first archery bull elk in 2007 and Melanie took her first muzzleloader mule deer the same year. I've been blessed to be drawn for elk every year since then and have harvested both elk and deer. We enjoy traveling the Caribbean, Europe, the Mediterranean, and the United States.
While my life is darn near perfect, I certainly am not. I'm basically a past middle-aged women that weights too much, (don’t let the picture fool you) three autoimmune diseases, hypothyroidism, wrinkles, cellulite, and graying hair that only my hairdresser and I will ever know the extent of. I’ve had a knee replacement and a back injury that has only slowed me down a little on some of my favorite activities ....... but despite it all, I am blissfully happy. I am happy with my life, my family, and most of all with myself, flaws and all. It took me a very long time to understand that you have to love yourself before you can love others and having a husband that loves me so unconditionally helped me learn that.
So, that's my life, the good, the bad, and the ugly. Hit me up on FB and let me know your journey...
