Lauralee's Story

Life I was born in Jamestown, NY (same town and hospital as Lucille Ball-she was there much sooner than I!) I began kindergarten there and then moved to Ridgway, PA where my grandfather was Chief of Police (I got to hold his hand and lead the other children across the main street after school, and then he would give me a dime. I was a very proud granddaughter.) I remember the "air-raid" drills and hiding in the sneaker closet from these times. I also attended school in Buffalo, NY. We did a lot of moving in my early years. I continued my schooling in Hamburg, NY (starting in third grade) went to both Grade School and Junior High. I started Hamburg High and then moved in December of my freshman year to Webster, NY to attend Webster Junior High. Left Webster in May, before end of freshman year (1962), moving to Anaheim, CA. Started at Magnolia High my sophmore year and graduated from there in 1966. Married Roy Moser (class of '65) out of high school, but single now for many years. Three daughters, Wendy 39, Christy 37, and Jodi 26. Two grandsons, Drayk 13, and Troy 5. One granddaughter, Lauryn Heather 3. I taught ROP Floral Design in a local high school (Vocational Education Class) for 16 1/2 years until my classes were closed in June 2006. I am now retired and enjoy my days watching my two youngest grandkids while Wendy and her husband Steve work. Those young'uns keep me hopping!! They are such a joy with their awakening awareness of the world around them every day. The things they say are priceless!! Before my teaching career I was a floral designer, in our family flower shop, for 15+ years, putting my self through college(as a single parent working full time.) I also spent some time working at the college. I graduated, with honors, with a BS degree in Human Services, with an emphasis in Women Studies, from Cal-State University, Fullerton (CA). I absolutely love to travel, been to Jamaica, Ireland, Holland with the major part in Amsterdam and then on a train to spend some time in Paris, France. Of course, I have been to Mexico and Canada too. Grew up very close to Niagara Falls, go there if you ever get the chance, awesome! Traveled across United States a few times as well. More travel plans in the works!! Each a wonderful and exciting experience! I still get together with a group of frie...Expand for more
nds from high school. We were a YMCA service club in high school known as the "Y-Beta-Phi's": Toni Tucker, Cindy Ales, Carol Dean, Sandy Pebley, Janet Nussbaumer, Carole Moore, and Lynn Levandowski (all maiden names here.) We still meet many times a year. Delfina Sanchez, our other 'sister', died in March of 1999 of colon cancer, she is missed so much. I was diagnosed with breast cancer that same year, nine years a survivor now. A defining time in my life! Early detection is the key! Now the "girls" know as "The Rat Pack" (we were born in 1948, the Year of the Rat) are planning a trip to Lake Tahoe on 08-08-08 to celebrate our 45 years of friendship together!! We were together in the lunch room on 6-6-66 (shortly before our graduation) and made a pact to meet on 7-7-77, 8-8-88, and 9-9-99 at the high school so we would always be able to stay in touch. We met all our pacts, in '88 the LA Times went with us on a three day cruise to Mexico. Our reporter wrote a wonderful story about us and we had a blast! We went to Laughlin for three days in 03-03-03 to celebrate our 40 year friendship, now we're on to Lake Tahoe, where we've rented a condo right on the shore. A celebration of our 60th birthdays will occur as well. It's fun to grow older with friends right along side you to cushion the blow!We enjoy a very sophomoric humor atmosphere when we get together that seems to make life's challenges a little lighter! Laughter reaches far into the night and we line up the champagne bottles along the wall after a weekend together. Aches and pains are given a short time to air then on to other topics. We hope to have our own "old folks" home together sharing the golden years of our lives with stories on the porch in our rockers!! Having walker races and learning how to do wheelchair wheelies! We have many adventures to relive on our minds! Rappelling deep into caverns, hot air ballooning, whitewater rafting and escaping a wild bear on the Hetch Hetchy in Yosemite, a very scary encounter!! I am hoping to connect with former classmates from NY and CA!! Please email me at Lunarflwr(at)AOL(dot)com. You cannot give direct emails on this site, but I think you will understand what I mean. I hope life has been good to you and you will share the missing years with me! Be happy and healthy until we meet again!
