Laurel's Story
I retired from teaching in 2014, and since then I have been working part-time at a recreational lodge. My husband is an AC/Heating tech. and the season is still busy in Sept., so he won't be able to attend the reunion with me.
My 24-year-old daughter is a hairstylist and just got engaged; she'll be getting married in March of next year. My husband's children are in Wisconsin. One has a 7-year-old boy, and one has a one-year-old girl. My parents are 86 and still alive and well and living in New Port Richey, FL, not far from where we live, and my sister, Amy, class of '73 Tecumseh, lives in St. Petersburg and teaches art. My husband loves to garden and tend our animals in his spare time--he grows a variety of fruits, and he's gotten really good at it. Our animals include a pig (he IS a pet) who weighs approximately 650 pounds, a cat, and a dog. We have rabbits,...Expand for more
which will be food eventually (for my husband; I don't think I can eat rabbit), and chickens. We're now living on an acre, out in the boondocks, and love it.
With my part-time work status, it's been nice to finally have time on my hands and to be able to catch up on reading, hang out with other friends who don't work or who also work part-time (and my friends who still teach but are off for the summer), and to be able to go to the gym when I want--and to attend Weight Watchers! (All the free time, which has allowed more time to experiment in the kitchen, makes it SO hard to keep the pounds off)!
I am so glad to have to opportunity to go to Ohio again after all this time, and I only wish my husband could make it, too!
I am so looking forward to coming to the reunion! I went to the 25th and had the time of my life. Hope to see alot of the same people again.
