Laurel's Story

I attended CC at Everett, held various jobs that included secretarial duties. That was the boring part, because at 25 I met an amazing man, Michael Kintner, who had attended Nathan Hale and WWU. We had 2 girls who are at this time in graduate school after each respective hiatus from Universities. My darling husband died in 1996 after 24 years of marriage. The eldest girl is Attending American University in DC studying International Conservation. The youngest is a Psych major in CA and wants to combine that with Art Therapy. In the course of the marriage to Michael, we built two houses virtually by hand, one on 5 acres in Carnation and one in Lakebay on the Key Peninsula. I also got a job in Carnation for Lower Snoq...Expand for more
ualmie Schools and taught English to 16 children from SE Asia. Later I was an assistant in Special Ed.and also for Kitsap's students who were too disturbed to make it in normal schools and were in a program attached to Kitsap Mental Health facilities. My husband had always thought I should do more with some art ability, but until some time after he died, I declined to pursue this. Now I am actually making money on commissions and sell my other art. I haven't always had it easy, that is for sure, but I would not have changed anything except Mike's death. Death is a part of life, and until we embrace it's consequences we cannot embrace life fully. (So I still have some emptiness in my embrace...working on it.) Laurel
