Laurie's Story
Life
After leaving high school, I couldn't afford college so I went to work at the Aetna. I stayed there for 8 years, ending up working with the President & CEO in the Law Department on Tort Reform. I had to leave AEtna after getting tendonaitis in both hands, and then got into the hotel industry. I was a Catering Coordinator for 8 years, when I met the man of my dreams, Dave. We married in 1992 and in 1996, became rediculously proud parents of our daughter, Paige. It pained me to leave her every day, so I opened my own in-home daycare. It was great for 3 years, until a job opportunity became available for Dave in Georgia. e done to date. I was very upset that I was unable to make it back for the 20th reunion, but we had just moved here, and it just wasn't possible.
I've told Kevin and Craig, so I'll share with whoever reads this that in the Fall of 2004, I was diagnosed with breast cancer. I've had surgery and followed up with months of radiation. In July 05, I've taken a step backwards, and will be needing another surgery soon, probably followed up with more radiation. My husband, David, and daughter, Paige, have been a wonderful support.
UPDATE December 07 - Doing better, after another surgery in August, 07. Have been attending college in the evenings after work, to get a degree in early childhood education. It's going to take 5 years to get my 2 year degree, but at least I'm trying --better later than never, right! Take care, Laurie
