Laurie's Story
My Life
After living in Torrance, I moved to my tribal reservation in 1994 where I worked for the tribal school, and then at our tribal casino - Harrah's Rincon Casino and Resort.
I am back working for my tribe, The Rincon Band of Luiseno Indians again as a Council Member.
I am heavily involved in the culture/ community here. I am on the Culture Committee and am a traditional basket-weaver. My daughter has followed in my cultural footsteps and is a Native American Archaelogical Site Mon...Expand for more
itor. She works closely with the Museum of Man and I am so proud of her. No$waamay no$uun (Transl: love my daughter) !
My brother Steve (Class of 84) still lives in Torrance, so I visit occasionally, but it's changed so much that I'm always happy to get back home to the Rez where you can still see stars in the sky and bobcats on my driveway. My closest neighbor is on the next hill.
If you find yourself down here at Harrah's Rincon Casino and Resort, stop by the Tribal Hall and say hello.
