ok, my story you ask, I moved away from Lemon Grove/Calif, just as soon as I could after I Grad. I had quite the chip on my shoulders brewed with a hearty rebellious nature. Lots of issues with my life and soul to work out that I really didn't know about at the time but I thought the farther I could get away from family, as in mother and Grandparents, the better. I moved to Colorado with Vanessa, one of my sisters, then up to Fairbanks Alaska (both of us) on a contract, working for a couple clubs in the midst of the booming of the Trans-Alaskan Pipeline. Very wild days to say the least. I fell in love with a mountain man within a couple weeks or so, (76), moved to Delta Jct, 100 miles south of FBNKS, to a 15ft by 15ft cabin, no running water nor elec and it was heaven, We had buffalo, linx, moose, sandhill crane just to name a few of the wildlife in our yard. I had an encounter with a bear one time in May, that came out of hibernation smelling my cookies,(we had a wood-cook stove for cooking and a barrel stove for heat). He came up to the cabin and stood up and pushed on the door that had no latch, while I was pushing back with one arm and a 12 gauge shot gun in the other. He wanted my cookies, luckily the beaver pelt next to him caught his nose and he tore that down off the side of the cabin and ripped it up a little then went over to the buffalo scull in one of the dog houses so that pretty much saved me from having to shoot him or what ever he had in mind for me,. I was alone , the dogs were being good and quiet in the cabin We had a couple sled dogs, they would've only pissed him off. We lived 30 miles out of town in the woods. Anyway what seemed like an eternity was about 45 minutes that he was there before he finally left. He circled around the cabin leaving his nose prints on the windows, sniffing away. For the life of me I don't know why he didn't push all the way on the door, it was 4 inches thick with no latch and I wouldn't have had a chance, It was my angel watching over me ...again. Dave didn't get home until 2 days later. In later years I went back to that cabin and a bear, probably the same one, got in the the cabin a peed all over inside while tearing up everything, breaking one window. I heard someone shot him later. . We moved to Nome in 77, then back to Fbnks at the time of the Iditorod. (Mar) (That's where the Iditorod ends, in Nome) I had a son 6 months prior and found out that all the complications that we had during his delivery caused brain damage, Cerebral palsey and seizure disorders so I needed to find some good doctors.
