Lawrence's Story
Life
After high school, I pursued another 11 years of education to become a family physician, then took a life-transforming 14 month trip to Asia, working in rural India and in a Thai-Cambodian border refugee camp, trekking in Nepal, touring Sri Lanka and northern India, and visiting family in China. Subsequently I worked 4 years with the Indian Health Service in northern AZ, then pursued research training and a Masters degree in Public Health, and joined the faculty at the U of Utah.
In 1985 I married Silvia Corral, a Mexican-American family physician from CA. We enjoyed our work and travel in AZ and WA but the difficulty of raising 3 young children in UT in the absence of family and friends led to our divorce in 1997. Silvi...Expand for more
a moved with the kids to be near her family in southern CA.
I moved to CA in January 2000 and joined a group of internists in northern LA County who combine excellent conventional medicine with nutrition, herbs, and other modalities. There I explored combining acupuncture together with family practice.
In spring 2004 I moved to Lompoc to be closer to my three children, who are entering high school and middle school this year.
Having the support of others in spiritual settings, music and outdoor sports are important balancing outlets for me.
