Lawrence's Story
Life
After High Point, I went on to earn my BA at UM, traveled to Japan, came home and moved to CA to get my Masters at the San Francisco Art Institute. After graduating in '89, I settled into life on the left coast. I was married at 31, divorced at 33, remarried at 42 and am now with the love of my life. I adopted three terrific kids who love me far more than I deserve. They are 25, 21, and 16; two boys and a girl (middle child). Right now, we are planning the wedding of our oldest for spring of 2006. I hope to be a grandpa befor I'm 50 (YIKES). Through the years, I have dabbled in theatre (graduating from the Bennett Theatre Lab 3 year Stanislavsky program), studdied Opera, and continued my passion for Martial Arts. I was fortunate enough to compete as a Kick boxer and full contact stick fighter...Expand for more
through the 80's and stuck with my philipine fighting arts practice through the 90's. In 1996, I was permitted to train with the illustrious Escrima Grand Master, Leovijildo Giron at the Bahala Na club in Stockton, CA. I graduated from Bahala Na in April 2001 and was promoted to instructor in October of the same year. I am very proud to have represented Grand Master Giron's art by instructing in Italy, Germany, England, and throughout the US. Currently, I teach at my own club here in the bay area and continue to train law enforcement personel, HRT and SWAT personel, military, corrections officers and ordinary citizens on a weekly basis. My wife and I hope to retire to the home we just bought in Phoenix sometime in the next ten years so I can continue to pursue my passions for Martial Arts and Cooking.
