Lawrence's Story

After graduating high school in 1964, I went on to college at Indiana University to major in Near Eastern Studies(B.A. 1968), and at University of California Los Angeles(M.A. 1971). I am a very avid student of foreign languages. In addition, I am something of a musician: I have played the violoncello since childhood. While at High Point High School, I was for three years the principal cellist in the all-Prince George's County high school orchestra. I am especially fond of European-American Classical music, that which was composed in the years 1700 - 1900. In December 1992, I married Lidia Aguilar-Marin, the woman you see in the photo with me. of a teen-age daughter, Eva, now in high school. Since our marriage,we have been to Bolivia several times to visit my wife's family. I also enjoy reading books about American and world history, various world religions, and now health issues--in the latter years of my life. I consider myself to be a lifetime student, always learning new things. As to the issue of friends, I am interested both to meet new ones and keep in touch with old ones--sometimes, I wish I could introduce the new to the old. On our HPHS web-site bulletin board, I have posted an announcement about Music Makers, a local amateur musical club I helped to establish approximately 30 years ago. -LKM
