Lea's Story
After Oak Bay, I travelled in southeast Asia with friends, and then spent a year at UVic. Then I headed off to the University of Guelph for a degree in Environmental Sciences (a great program), followed by a masters in Environmental Change & Management at Oxford (also a great program).
I met my husband, James, in the UK, and we both came back to Canada to do PhDs at the University of Guelph. I did my PhD in epidemiology, and specialize in mapping and modeling environmental change (e.g. climate change) impac...Expand for more
ts on infectious disease. For example, I predict & research how climate change will affect diseases like West Nile virus in Canada, or malaria in Africa. I love the work & got to spent close to a year in Uganda & Kenya for my thesis research.
I now work as a professor at McGill, teaching and researching. It's a great job, and Montreal is a wonderful city (great festivals, wonderful food, lots of activities).
James and my first baby is due in June 2008.
I hope everyone is happy & healthy.
Best wishes,
Lea
