Lea's Story

Life Well, let me pick up after the Summer of 92. I attended Langston University in the Fall of 1992, and received a Bachelor of Arts degree in December of 1996. Shortly after graduating from undergrad, I relocated to Atlanta, Georgia to work for Delta Airlines, Inc. as a Flight Attendant. During my time at Delta I was transfered twice. My first transfer was to Cincinnati, Ohio. I lived there for one year. My second transfer was better; I went back to Atlanta. I left the travel industry after two short (but felt), LONG years. Although my reason for moving to Atlanta no longer existed; I decided to make Atlanta my home (for awhile). I enrolled at Clark Atlanta University pursueing a Masters degree in Education and a teaching certification. Even though my intent was to retire in Atlanta, opportunity opened eleswhere. I was offered a position with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg school district in Charlotte, North Carolina. There I taught sixth grade social studies. In March 2002, I packed my bags again and moved back to Tulsa, OK to attend The University of Oklahoma. I completed the Master of Human Relations program in July 2003. My purpose in Tulsa was served; therefore, I relocated AGAIN and moved to Dallas, Texas. I'm still in Texas, residing in Arlington; and I teach 6th grade social studies for Fort Worth ISD. School Believe it or not, I was quite active in school. In the ninth grade ...Expand for more
I attended Edison High School, were my focus was basketball. I think I picked up the sport because my cousin played and I was tall. Nevertheless, I played on the Freshman and Jr. Varsity squads. Amazingly, I was a starter for the Freshman squad. I left Edison in May of 1990 and enrolled at Central High School. At Central, I directed my attention to cheerleading (although it was short lived). By the end of my junior year I lost all interest in sports and spent the remainder of my high school days hanging out and having a good time with friends. I would say those were good times! College My major changed a few times while I was at Langston. I first majored in biology, than I changed to Social Studies Education, and I finally decided on pursueing a Liberal Arts, with a minor in Social Studies Education. My three years in the Langston University Marching Band were three of the BEST years of my life. I enjoyed every moment of it. To sum it up, my time at Langston University was WONDERFUL and left me with great friends and great memories. Clark Atlanta University and The University of Oklahoma were good schools and I learned a lot; but overall, they don't compare to LU. No offense... Workplace If I posted my resume here, it wouldn't fit. Yes, I've changed jobs frequently in my lifetime; but I think I have a winner....teaching (five years and counting)! It's the hours that make me stay!!!
