Leah's Story
Life
Hi, my name is Leah Annette Johnson-Kennedy. I am 48 years old will be 49 in January. I graduated high school in 1979 - Commercial Education. My best friends then were Nydia, Noemi, Mariluz and Rosita. Oh, lets not forget Miguel. I went to college in Mayaguez for the first 3 years and then went to the InterAmerican University in Rio Piedras. I graduated with a Bachelor in Arts with concentration in Secretarial Sciences.
I married the first time at age 23. Not a goog time. I moved to Lubbock, TX for a year and then went to Miami (without the husband) where I've been since 1989.
I married my second husband on June 15 1995. He was the GREATEST man I have ever met. I wouldn't change my life with him for anything in the world. He was the one who showed me what love was all about.
My mom passed away December 5, 2005. I miss her a lot. We used to talk every day for an hour.
My husband Richard was diagnosed with Pancreatic Cancer on March 5, 2007 and passed away on August 1, 2007 at 7:14 a.m. His body was donated to medical science. We both believe in giving and helping up to the last minute, I miss him so very much!!!
God has given me a second chance at love. His name is Fermin. He has been a GREAT support for me ...Expand for more
after my husband passed away. We have been together for almost 2 yrs. now. If I didn't know any better I would think that my husband re-encarnated in him. They are almost idenditical in character. Fermin is Cuban (51 yrs.) and my husband (71 yrs.) was Yugoslavian. He has been really supportive and has encouraged me throughout these bad times.
I am been working as a Document Processor for large law firms for the past 8 years. Unfortunately I'm one of those people affected by lay offs. I've been looking for work for the last 5 months. It's really scary not having a job. I finally found a job but it doesn't pay nearly the amount I was getting but a job is a job. It's better than nothing.
At my last work (Hunton & Williams LLP)my hours were really strange (2:00 PM to midnight) but I only work 4 days a week. This was a great thing. It was a great environment. They are so employee oriented. I couldn't have made through these last 6 months without them. They were EXTREMELY supportive. Loved working here.
Well, my dad passed away on June 12, 2009. I've been without work since June 5, 2009 was laid off again. Things haven't gone so well these past most in the job department. Still looking, I know something will come up.
