Leanne's Story
After graduating from Foster in 1976, I went in for more schooling: finished a B.A. in English Literature at the University of Washington in 1980; did one year as a graduate student in the English Department at the University of Virginia, Thomas Jefferson's old drafting grounds; finished my M.A. at the UW; received a teaching certificate from the UW, as well as professional certificates in Paralegal Studies and Museum Studies. And, "What is she doing now?" I'm sure you ask. Well, I've been basically a full-time volunteer for the last 11 years or so - and I don't ever want to rely on a full-time paycheck again! (Besides my husband's.)
I married Rick Hawkins in 1988, when we were both officially "over the hill." Because time was of the essence, we had two sons in fairly quick succession. Brian will be a junior at - you guessed it - the University of Washington this fall, doing some kind of engineering thing. (There's a reason I studied Humanities rather than Math/Science). Scott will be a senior at Ingraham High School and will be trying to get his first novel published sometime in the next year.

ralegal, most of my time has been taken up with being a spouse, parent, homemaker, and volunteer, as mentioned above. I've been a docent at the Seattle Art Museum for almost 12 years - I really enjoy the challenge of learning about new artists, genres, cultures, and times, and then trying to wrap the knowledge in a package that can be gifted to the audience. I've also been updating photographic database archives as the Nordic Heritage Museum for 5+ years, and have volunteered at the Friends of the Library Book Sales for at least 15 years. Currently my major volunteer time commitment is with the Washington State PTA: I'm a Region Director, just starting the first few months of a two-year commitment (and I probably will be committed at the end of that period.)
So - I hope to reconnect with friends and acquaintances from Foster Senior High School. I had my fair share of heartbreaks during high school (many fewer than in junior high, though - ugh, what an experience!), but I also had great times, some wonderful teachers, and many cherished memories from those three years.
I hope life has treated you well, and you have some stories to share.
