Robert's Story
My high school years were spent in Myrtle Beach, SC (three years at Socastee High School) and in Charlottesville, VA (graduated from Albemarle High School).
After college (Lees-McRae College and Appalachian State University, I married the former Leasa Hodson in 1975. I did additional studies at Longwood University and Virginia Tech. We have two children and four grandchildren. Leasa was a retired teacher and died in January 2018, two weeks before our 43rd anniversary.
I was a police officer early in my career, and spent 22 years with the Virginia Department of Corrections (Probation and Parole Officer, Chief Probation and Parole Officer, Regional Manager for Adult Community Corrections, and Local Fac...Expand for more
ilities Manager). I ended my Virginia career as director of Prince Edward County Department of Social Services. After retirement in 2008, we moved to East Bend, NC (if you have a map of Nowhere, stick your finger in the middle and that's where I am). I taught high school social studies for five years and my second retirement began in June, 2013. I briefly served as a volunteer Guardian ad Litem with Yadkin County Juvenile Court.
I grow blueberries, and enjoy photography and writing. I'd like to present a long list of my fabulous accomplishments. I'd like to, but I don't really have any fabulous accomplishments. I look in the mirror and do not recognize that gray haired fellow that's looking back at me.
