Lee's Story
Life
I live in Southern California, I am married, two children and 4 grandchildren. I have 1 schnauzer and 1 cat. I keep busy writing childrens books and doing voiceover work for commercials and films. I retired from Redondo Beach Police Department where I was the first woman to drive a Police Car as a Police Officer. My husband is also retired from the Police Department with 30 years service. He retired as a Sergeant, and spent almost 40 years in the Army National Guard, retiring as a Command Sergeant Major. He has Parkinson's Disease but it doesn't slow us down. I attended the Academy Awards ceremony February 29th, it was very exciting and memorable, if a bit cold and wet. We managed to stay dry during the arrival of the stars as there were plastic awnings over the red carpet, and then we were inside and did not care if it was raining. The party afterwards was exciting but by that time I had had enough excitement and dancing the night away didn't seem as glamorous as it used to!
I was just cast in a PBS Special about the "Polar Bears" a unit during the WWI that was sent to Russia during the winter to help the British...Expand for more
fight. I have a Voice Over part. Recording/Filming starts early September. 2008 December 30, Filming is complete, it will be on PBS spring 2010 under the title "Voices of a Never Ending Dawn". The film will be shown around Memorial day, 2010. The West Coast Premier was Sept 30th, and a very special night!
I am in the process of moving to Hawaii to be near 2 of my grandchildren and am looking forward to finishing my new book, and just sitting on my lanai and watching the sunset...At last we are in our house in Kalaheo Hawaii so beautiful here. I am working from home doing small parts not ready to audition for anything that requires travel for a while, just want to sit and enjoy the wonderful weather and write. So nice to be finally at home, it was a long 5 months.
Hawaii living is the best, slow and peaceful. I am working steady usually on line submissions. The book is finished and a play written. Lots of time to work here. Our little dog died and we are left with a very spoiled cat who now rules! My house is all windows so it is like being outside all the time, very good for writing, I don't long to be outside.
