LeeAnn's Story

Life I realize that Fort Wayne isn't truly considered a Cosmopolitan City and yet I, while not resembling Ava Gabor in the least, have been heard to sigh "Good-bye, city-life..." since our move to our new home in Allen Co.'s Amish Country. I suppose that I should relent and consider myself a "Spencervillian". Well-water and the smell of manure hasn't sent me scampering back to the Fort yet, nor has it dampened my enthusiasm for the bucolic, 19th century charm of my Amish neighbors and their peaceful lifestyle. We live on a heavily wooded property which is lush and beautiful but produces the largest mosquitos and spiders known to humankind. My husband's name is Bruce Cole, a most excellent partner and the Daddy every little kid wishes he had. Although Bruce is a member of the Ft. Wayne Rugby Club, he breaks the "rugby stereotype" since his is the gentlest, kindest man I have ever met. We are delighted to parent sons Graham, 6, and Miles, 4. Graham is bright and inquisitive. Miles is a wild-man, full of energy and mischief. Daughter Brynn is 4 also, shy and observant. Our "bab...Expand for more
ies" are 10 weeks apart, miracles of both "high-tech" birth and adoption. Bruce is a stay-at-home-Dad. I find it an interesting challenge being an "older" parent. While my patience and understanding is greater than I'd've had at a younger age, I'm sure my energy levels would've been much higher 20 years ago! While some of our peers are taking cruises and enjoying grandchildren, we're struggling with potty-training, Preschool and Kindergarten! I can't decide whether this will keep me young or make me even older before my time, but I love, LOVE it...and them. I am the owner and stylist at Salon L.A. in Fort Wayne. My job is not what I ever envisioned myself doing but it actually has been a very enlightening career. As a stylist, I probably do more stand-up psychology than the best shrink in town...with a little stand-up comedy thrown in! (Although my clients would say "very-little".) I love my job for the fact that it keeps me in touch with some of our classmates on a regular basis. All in all, it's been a fulfilling career which provides a wonderful home for our Cole brood.
