Leigh's Story
I have been a RN for 20+ years now. I have worked all over Texas; including Driscoll Childrens Hospital ( Corpus Christi) in Transport And NICU. Texas Children's Hospital in Houston, Hillcrest Baptist Medical Center in Waco, Medical City Hospital in Dallas, Medical City Hospital in Plano- now Presbyterian, DeTar Hospital in Victoria, Victoria Eye/Surgery Center in Victoria and did some pediatric Home Health nursing as well.
I decided to leave Victoria in 2004, moved to Corpus Christi and went to work for Driscoll Children's Hospital in the NeoNatal ICU.... (all while entertaining an ominous divorce; due to a fatal long marriage)!. I transferred to the Transport Team ( Air and Ground) at DCH in 2007. In 2008 I moved to Rockport. While at DCH in Transport, I frequently worked out of Brownsville, where DCH has a valley based staging office. I am so fortunate to have had a job that I absolutely love!!!!!!!!!
Jerry came into my life in 2004, we became good friends and eventually fell in love. In the summer of 2008, Jerry sold his house in Victoria and moved in with me. We got married in March, 2010. In May 2010 we bought a house in the Rockport country club and love it there. We are still sand and sun junkies, aka "Beach Trash" to our close friends!!! We spend as much time as we can outside and ride our bicycles a lot.
I am -(we both are) still a big sports fan, especially collegiate sports. My father taught me well!!! Jerry converted me to a Longhorn fan, so yes....GO HORNS!!!!!! We go to as many UT games as we can and love our season ticket seats at the HORNS home games. But I like watching ANY Texas collegiate team play. I still follow the Astros and the Braves as I still love baseball, again thanks Dad for all you taught me! Very soon I will be attempt the game of Golf, which should prove to be very interesting!!!
We enjoy traveling in general, going where we want, whenever we can. Jerrys' parents (and family) all live in Brunswick,Georgia, so we go visit 2-3 times a year. We also like Vegas with its many opportunities/pleasures!

Kobe-11 yrs, Alton-8yrs and Kezlar who is 2.Ryan- my middle son(now 30), has a daughter Aneska who is 7 yrs (she has my middle name-Randalynn!), and a son Logan that is 3yrs. His kiddos live in Destrehan, LA with their mom Jennifer Hubbard Scott. Kyle & his wife Tara (the youngest at 29) have 3 kids; Gage-12, Lillian-7 and Kylee is 2.
As one learns that life doesn't always turn out the way you expected it to, we come to experience many surprises in life, both good and bad. I think it has been interesting, the effects of these surprises!
My boys taught me a lot about patience, understanding and that thing callled unconditional love. As I watched them change and grow I learned that my life would be exactly what I made it..... and if I didn't like something I could change it. This process made me realize that change was the only way to be what I wanted to be and to have what I desired as well. Once the boys grew up I decided it was my time, doing what I wanted. So I made changes with no regrets!
I think my classmates were surprised at our 30 yr reunion, when I showed up with my then boyfriend now husband-Jerry. Many actually thought he resembled David Kendrick and commented on the resemblence. Jerry is blonde and blue eyed and taller than David. My looks had changed as well. I had lost a chunk of the weight I gained since high school, lightened my hair and let my hair grow long. And then at our 35 yr reunion I was in even better shape!!!
My one DO-OVER....... is that I would have gone straight to college and not gotten married so young. I should have gone off to college; lived in a dormitory, learned to take care of myself as well as my finances and done a better job at planning my life and future.
In Jan of 2014, we took another chance in life. Jerry had been with Formosa Plastics for 26+ years, and decided to accept a job (in a trainer capacity) with K2 Pure Solutions; a American/Canadian company based in North California. So we moved to the west coast, and started the next chapter in our lives: away from family. We have been in Antioch, CA for about 16 months and still have about a year here before the company is ready to move to the next plant; Possibly Mississippi!
