Life
Hello! How is life? IÂve turned my fascination with foreign languages into a long career as a translator. Initial post-Hiram College (Ohio) thoughts of teaching comparative Spanish & French literature veered onto the translation path when my Masters-study-in-Spain hostess introduced me to an architect in need of a Spanish-English translator to explain his design concept for the University of Kuwait. also adding Italian, Portuguese and German to my repertoire. Since then, IÂve spent the past 20 years (canÂt quite believe this) as translator & coordinator of translation services for the NYC law firm of Cravath, Swaine & Moore. IÂve also come back to teaching - training future translators in the New York University Certificate in Translation program. I lived in Manhattan until five years ago, when I moved with my library and family of cats to Jackson Heights, Queens, where the tree-lined streets on my route to church choir rehearsal remind me of Bernardsville...
