Lela's Story
Lela has now graduated from The Richard Stockton College of NJ, in 2013 obtaining her BA in Criminal Justice, she now considers herself an Advocate for the Abused and for those who suffer from Mental Health Issues.. She is a mother of two adults children, a Domestic Violence Survivor, She divorced her now ex abusive husband, Dan after years of abuse. She is now over 18 years abuse free. Lela is now a published poet, "A Mother's Cry' poem won Safe Horizon's Mother's Day Contest in April of 2011. nine other poems that are publish in 2012 in fundraiser books with two other non profit agencies here in the U.S, and in England. olence survivors "Speak Your Peace", published February of 2013. My DV story has been published in other book projects, websites, and shared on Blog Talk radio shows. In 2005 Lela turned in a sexual predator here in New Jersey, which motivated her to return to college. This was a 'life' changing experience working with varies law enforcement agencies in both the United States and the Philippines. Lela will be publishing a book on her personal experiences in the near future.
In 2013 joined HEAAT Foundation, combating and addressing Human Trafficking Awareness in the greater Atlantic City, NJ area as a volunteer with other professionals. Now working with Catholic Charities of Trenton, NJ, as a Residential Counselor with adults with Mental Health Disorders in a group home.
